Pyroll Tako Carton Plant has received Europe’s first EGP partnership certificate for offset printing. The certificate was awarded as recognition for the new printing options for packaging carton. The recognition was awarded by the repro partner Marvaco Oy, a pioneer in EGP technology.
Tako Carton Plant in Tampere uses EGP (Expanded Gamut Printing) in their new offset printing machine. With the EGP process, implemented in cooperation with Marvaco, the quality of packaging printing is even further improved. EGP’s positive impact on environment is significant. The extended colour gamut achieved with EGP, and the fixed colour palette reduce the environmental load. This is a greener way of packaging printing than the traditional mixed ink printing has had to offer.
”The flexibility of printing production has increased, and setup has become faster. EGP has improved the print quality and given an opportunity for innovative, even more complex prints, thanks to the increase in available colour shades and gang printing”, says Jussi Timo, Unit Manager of Tako Carton Plant in Tampere.
EGP is a repro technology where printing is implemented with digitally-assisted ink blending in a more predictable, more precise, and cleaner way. In the colour separation, CMYK colour gamut is enriched with for example additional OGV (Orange, Green, Violet) process inks which doubles the number of colour shades compared to the Pantone+ colour series.
International brand owners are already moving on to the new EGP technology in their packaging projects, and the interest in Finland has grown. Finnish Marvaco is a pioneer of EGP technology, and together with Tako Carton Plant it is promoting EGP technology in Finland and abroad. At the moment the printing press manufacturers are beginning to take interest in EGP technology and its integration into printing press concepts.
